Cecilia Stalin
?Since 1999 Cecilia Stalin has been working as a freelance vocalist/musician. In Sweden her engagements have ranged from working with various small groups to bigband. Cecilia has also been a featuring vocalist of several additional groups that she has recorded and toured with, like Koop (Disel Records). After moving to New York in 2003, she started working in various jazz clubs in the NYC area (Arturos, Sweet Rythm, UpOver JazzCafe etc.). She performed with such artists as Charles Tolliver JazzOrchestra and Reggie Workmans Coltrane group, and recorded alongside Harry Withaker, but was mainly performing with her own sextet to which she also composed most of the material. The Cecilia Stalin Sextett was formed in New York 2003 and has recorded the CD "Plays". In '04 Cecilia moved back to Stockholm and recorded her CD "Straight Up" and has sold it in Sweden, USA and Japan and now UK.
Cecilia moved to London October last year to build on a wider audience and to get to collaborate with new musicians and new venues and have since her move worked with people like Tony Kofi, Neville Malcom, Don-E, Waiwan, Natalie Wiliams, Alice Russel, Vula Malinga, Winston Clifford and played venues like Spice of Life, Ronnie Scott, Mau Mau, The Halo Bar, The Vortex, Bar Music hall etc.
Cecilia also does private bookings (working since 1990 with different cover bands) and have a very wide range of repetoar – ranging from Fats Waller tunes like Ain’t Miss Behavin to modern songs by Norah Jones and John Legend. She performs with or without a band and does Solo piano/voice, duo’s, trio’s up to a full 10 piece Soul band. She has been flown out to Australia, US, Indonesia, Europe to do gigs depending on the request.
